Ceiling Beams Faq

Faux ceiling beams are manufactured from pre-cast moulds and are only available in standard sizes. Consequently, we do not customize faux ceiling beams. Our recommendation is that you cut them down to size or splice beams together to achieve the length that meets your requirements. Straps are a common accessory used to hide unsightly joints with minimal effort.

Wood ceiling beams are manufactured from stock lumber and are available in many standard sizes. Aside from the wide array of standard options, AIC Millworks, LLC specializes in customizing our wood ceiling beams to include, but not limited to: complete ceiling packages, ceiling designs, exotic lumber and custom profiles.

In short, No. For several reasons, we do not recommend the use of ceiling beams, neither faux nor wood, for constructing a fireplace mantel:

When you trim the ceiling beam, you will be left with one open side on faux beams or two open sides on wood beams.

Absolutely, our ceiling beams may be used on interior and exterior applications. Faux beams are weather resistant, but we recommend the use of a quality UV topcoat to prevent the color from fading. Wood beams are manufactured using ANSI Type I water-resistant adhesives, though it is important to note that some wood species are more suitable for exterior conditions than others. While Cypress and Spanish Cedar are ideal for exterior applications, other species such as Poplar perform poorly.

Yes. Select faux beams are available in four-sides, and all wood ceiling beams are available in four-sides upon request.
