Our Square Plain Fiberglass Column s are ideal for applications such as decorative columns, colonnades, column wraps, column covers or pole covers, basement lally columns, fireplace surrounds, porches, balconies, pool enclosures, decks, gazebos, courtyards and patios in the home, business and other venues. Fiberglass columns are easily installed without specialized labor or equipment.
Square Plain Fiberglass Column s are manufactured from extremely durable fiberglass, polyester resin and several other ingredients to produce high strength load-bearing parts; they come unfinished, ready to paint. Fiberglass has a smooth, consistent surface texture compared to stone or concrete. With the structural integrity of marble, this Square Plain Fiberglass Column is relatively lightweight.
Capital and Base
The standard capital and base sets for the 5.75" x 96" Square Plain Fiberglass Column are manufactured from the same quality material as the column. They are “sleeves” that are installed around the Square Plain Fiberglass Column shaft and do not contribute to the overall column height of 96.
Column Height
Fiberglass columns are made from molds of fixed proportions. Therefore, non-standard heights must be achieved by cutting the column down from the bottom. Custom sizes and designs are available upon request for large-volumne orders only.
Cutting and Fastening
Fiberglass is easily cut with conventional carpentry and woodworking tools; your 5.75" x 96" Square Plain Fiberglass Column may be trimmed with an abrasive saw, hacksaw or fine-toothed handsaw. Always cut from the bottom. Fine trim your cut with a rasp. Corner brackets and masonry screws make suitable fasteners. Be sure to pre-drill pilot holes and countersink screws. Use only PAINTABLE latex-based construction adhesive and caulk . Lastly, avoid striking the column faces with a hammer.
