What do the Wainscot Kits include?
While the Wainscot Kits vary from product to product, a typical wainscot kit consists of: the horizontal rails (top & bottom), vertical stiles, the center panels, a wainscot cap along the top and shoe moulding along the bottom. You may upgrade to a baseboard and/or embellished wainscoting cap. See the product details page for exact contents.
Do your Wainscoting Kits and Components come finished?
No. All wainscoting parts are shipped in an unfinished state, though free of milling marks and ready to be primed or pre-stained. You may paint or stain with the oil/water-based coating of choice.
Do products have to be primed before painting?
Yes. All species of wood should be primed prior to painting.
Can Wainscot be used outdoors?
Absolutely, our hardwood products may be used on interior and exterior applications. Note that exterior applications require ANSI Type I water-resistant adhesives. Additionally, some wood species are more suitable to exterior conditions than others such as Cypress and Spanish Cedar while others perform poorly such as Poplar.
Do you offer assembly?

What is your wainscoting made of?
AIC Millworks proudly manufactures all wainscoting components from solid stock selected from the finest clear, kiln-dried lumber. We do not use engineered lumber (such as MDF or veneer) as many of our competitors do. The only exception is the use of plywood for flat panels components of the recessed-panel kits.
What is a custom layout?
A custom layout is a technical drawing created by an experienced member of our support team. This document is used to define the appropriate layout that meets your specific needs, to include custom-sized pieces. Fine adjustments are made to the components to ensure a balanced, full-panel layout along each wall. You may choose this option when adding your kit to the cart.
